Dapur Jendela

You know how there is a lot of cafes embracing the trend of old school style cafes? The combination is quite easy actually.. throw together a few mismatched furniture, dim the lights, serve feel-good dishes, coffee is a must, blast indie music and voila. Recently went to check out this place called Dapur Jendela, literally means kitchen curtains. Quaint little space serving the usual western food and Malay favourites like soto, roti jala, lempeng (crepe) and nasi lemak.

It's actually quite refreshing to see Malay food being served in such cafes because usually it's spaghetti, chicken chop, cakes and whatnots. I tried the soto mee hoon and the broth is just nice - flavourful without being too salty. They have a fairly small menu but expect homely dishes served with a side of laid-back.

Love,
xiang yun
